Yesterday at work I started feeling really sick. I could feel a cold coming on and my stomach was killing me. I sneezed probably 100 times at work, and I'm not even joking. The commute was successful and I made it home. When I got home Scott gave me some medicine, and warned me it would knock me out. I felt like it was working and didn't feel tired until all of a sudden I was on the couch and fell asleep around 8:30. I woke up and hurried to bed and fell right to sleep. I continued to sleep until about 6:30 am when I woke up.
I decided to get up and get ready since that usually makes me feel better. I got ready and headed off to work (thought about calling in sick but didn't want to waste vacation days). I got to the subway station and saw waited for the train. I initially got onto the C train, but the A came, so I decided to switch trains. Right when I got on the train, I sat down and smelled something funny. I soon realized that it smelled like something was burning, and decided to get off the next stop and get on the C when it got there. While I waited for the C, I noticed MTA workers and a police officer trying to figure out what was causing the smell. The C came, and as I was getting on they announced that the A train was no longer in service, so everyone from that train packed on... It seemed like forever on the train, I ended up getting to my transfer stop 15 minutes later than usual. I transferred to my train and was freaking out because it was looking like I was going to be late. I get to the stop right by my office and get off having to climb the monstrous escalator while I felt I didn't have any energy. I made it to work and clocked in at 9:34 which is "late" for work since work starts at 9:30, but they give us until 9:37 to not be considered late, which saved me. I clocked in "on time! barely." Now the story doesn't end here.
I start working, and doing the usual morning routine and at about 10:15 I decided to eat my breakfast that I had packed--lemon yogurt. This sounded really good to me, because it was cold, and I thought it would feel good on my throat. I started eating it and it was really good until I noticed a clump in the yogurt I was eating. I then looked down at my yogurt and realized there was mold in it! I throw the container into my garbage and start spitting it out. I start freaking out, I yelled, "yuck, I'm going to be sick!" Then I ran into the bathroom. I started to wash out my mouth, scrubbing my tongue to get it out. I run into the kitchen and grab half of a bagel to take a few bites to get the taste out of my mouth. I come back to my pod and explain what happened to the 2 people who sit next to me. They just look at me like, "and the problem is..." No sympathy whatsoever.
So not only am I sick, tired, was almost late, now I have consumed moldy yogurt... I'm ready to call a do over...
It's not even 11:00 am yet.
I'm sorry! I have sympathy for you! Did they find out what was on fire? I hope your day gets better!!
ReplyDeleteI don't know what was burning, something on the train I guess since it went out of service. Maybe it was the breaks, I don't know. I got out of there as soon as I could!
