GMA American Idol Concert

I went to the GMA American Idol Concert in Central Park last Friday before work with my friend Lindsay. It was a lot of fun!  Anyone that knows me knows that I love American Idol, and a free American Idol concert I could not pass up.  Here are some pictures taken by Lindsay:

My Predictions

I told a few people that once the top 12, 13 or whatever number it was going to be was announced on American Idol I would predict my top 3.  There ended up being 13 of the 24 people chosen last night.  I have chosen who I think will be in the top 3, my favorites.  My predictions are...

James Durban
Lauren Alaina
Casey Abrams

If you don't like American Idol I'm sorry, but if you haven't ever really watched it---do, so I can have more people to talk about it with.  If you watch, let me know your predictions too!  We'll see how I do this year:)

American Idol is Back!

This is Scott's least favorite time of the year... when American Idol starts up.  It's my favorite though!

I am a little behind in posting about American Idol this year because I wanted to watch a few episodes before.  So I've watched a few weeks of it, and I love it!  I have decided that I really like all the judges.  For those of you out of the American Idol loop there are 2 new judges this year to replace the old.  Randy Jackson is still a judge, and Steven Tyler (from Aerosmith) and Jennifer Lopez are the new judges.  So I may be a little biased because I am a Steven Tyler fan.  Just ask my family about my Steven Tyler impression:)  I think the judges work well together, and I am not missing the judges that left.  I don't even miss Simon Cowell.  So if you decided not to watch this season because of the new judges, start watching!  I need more people to talk about the show with.

I like this season how they seem to be focusing more on the good singers than the bad.  I used to get so sick of hearing all of the bad people so I think that is better.  There have been a few people that have been really good!  Once they get to the Hollywood episodes I'll start listing my predictions.  I like to pick my favorites early on and see how far they go.  I also like to "judge" the contestants myself, so I hope I don't bore you with my reviews as it goes further.

If you can't stand American Idol, I'm sorry just don't read these kinds of posts:)

My Prediction Was Correct

On April 20th I made, "My Prediction" for the top 3 of American Idol. I should have officially posted it sooner, because I really knew all along. But... I was right! Just wanted everyone to know that:)

The reason I love Tuesdays...

American Idol Girl's Nights!

Almost every Tuesday night while some of our hubby's are at the homeless clinic in Harlem, the girls get together at Abbie's for American Idol. When SYTYCD was on, we watched that, now it's American Idol. We like to critique and comment on the performances and I love to hear everyone's opinions. We snack, and talk between performances, and sometimes during if the performance is boring. It's just an all around good time with the girls.

Tonight the top 7 will perform and I am very excited about that.

I'm going to make this official, my top 3 prediction for American Idol. I may be wrong, but it's fun to guess.

1. Lee
2. Crystal
3. Casey

I think that Lee Dewyze will/should win the entire competition. He is my favorite and he is very talented. There could be a shocker week like when Chris Daughtry got kicked off early, but if the votes go the way they should then Lee will win. If you watch American Idol let me know your predictions.

Top 12 of American Idol

I am still not over the fact that Alex was kicked off last week as well as Lilly. There are so many bad singers that are still on the show. It's sort of frustrating there aren't as many good people as there used to be.

This week was very boring. I'm not going to go through all of the performances because I wasn't all that impressed. For the first half of the show I was reading a book during it while I watched. My favorites are still Lee Dewyze and Crystal Bowersox. Lee sang a weird song, but I liked his voice. Maybe I can convince Scott to like him because the judges compared his voice to Dave Matthews.

I didn't get to watch the results show because we had an Activities Committee meeting. I tried to record it, but I didn't set the timer right. I read online and Lacey Browne went home. I don't think she's good enough to win the competition, but there were others that deserved to go home before her. I'm okay with the results--my fav's were safe which is all that matters.

I hope next week is more entertaining!

American Idol Results Last Week

I was shocked to find out the results from last week! I'm going to make this short and to the point.

Katelyn was the right choice to go home as well as Todrick. Lilly and Alex should not have been sent home. I sure hope they do a wildcard pick or something and bring at least one of them back. If not, the show will not be as good as it could have been. I'm going to start voting which I never do this early on. I don't usually vote until like the finale, but now I'm scared that my favorites will get kicked off...

American Idol Guy's Night Review

I reviewed the girl's night of American Idol, now is time for the guys.

Lee Dewyze (23 year old from Illinois)
He sang "Fireflies" by Owl City. I really loved this song! There were a few not so good notes, but I don't think it matters with him. He's probably one of my favorites because he reminds me of David Cook. I like the rocker kind of voice he has. I think he will go very far in the competition.

Alex Lambert (19 year old from Texas)
He sang "Trouble" by Ray LaMontagne. Even though he still seems scared to be on stage, I think he is really good! He has such an amazing voice, very different. He just needs confidence and that will come with time. I think he'll stay in for a while.

Tim Urban (20 year old from Texas)
He sang "Hallelujah" by Jeff Buckley. I am not a huge Tim Urban fan, but this week I liked him more. He was a lot better than in previous weeks. I kept comparing him singing to Jason Castro when he sang that song a few seasons ago on idol, and they don't compare. I enjoyed Jason Castro's version a lot better.

Andrew Garcia (24 year old from California)
He sang "Genie in a Bottle" by Christina Aguilera. I don't think this was the best song choice for him. The lyrics were a little awkward with him singing them, but then again I didn't like it when Christina Aguilera sang it either. I really like his voice though and I think he has a lot of talent.

Casey James (27 year old from Texas)
He sang "You'll Think of Me" by Keith Urban. He was all right. My favorite song that he sang was "Heaven." Nothing else has really compared. He needs to pick better songs.

Aaron Kelly (16 year old from Pennsylvania)
He sang "I'm Already There" by Westlife. I don't like Aaron Kelly at all... I just don't think he is anything different. He sings songs that are obviously too old for him, and don't even relate to him. This song he sang was about a dad and his kids. I think he could go home this week.

Todrick Hall (24 year old from Texas)
He sang "Somebody to Love" by Queen. I have never liked Todrick but last night I did. He was one of the only ones that actually moved to the music, and got into it. Everyone else was pretty stiff. I love Queen though so maybe that's why I liked it.

Michael Lynche (26 year old from Florida)
He sang "This Woman's Work" by Maxwell. He was really good last night. I'm not a huge fan of Michael but I do like his personality. Last night he was one of the best though. I think he's getting better and better. He doesn't really sing my style of music, but I'm growing to like him.

Wow, 50% of the boys are from Texas! Usually it's more spread out than that. Last night was a bit of a disappointment for me. I was expecting more from the guys, but parts were a little boring. I would say my favorites are still Lee Dewyze and Alex Lambert.

Tonight, they will announce the Top 12. I'm excited for next week when the Top 12 will perform and that's when the competition I feel really begins!

I'm going to a Broadway Show with my hubby tonight, so I'll have to look online to see the results of tonight. We are going to see Next to Normal which I am so excited about! That's one thing I love about New York---Broadway!

American Idol Girl's Night Review

It was fun watching American Idol last night for girl's night. It was fun to hear the comments everyone had about the performances. There were some really amazing performances and some not so good performances. Here's my recap:

Katie Stevens: (17 year old from Connecticut)
She sang "Breakaway" by Kelly Clarkson. They always say on American Idol not to choose songs where people will compare you to the original singer. She definitely was compared to Kelly Clarkson and it definitely wasn't as good. They said that she lacks experience and I agree. I think she will go home on Thursday.

Sibhan Magnus: (19 year old from Massachusetts)
She sang "House of the Rising Sun" by The Animals. This girl is a crazy thing! She's very quirky but has an AMAZING voice. I don't really love her personality, but she is very talented, I have to admit. I watch her sing and can't believe what's coming out of her mouth. She did really well! She's staying for sure.

Lacey Brown: (24 year old from Texas)
She sang "The Story" by Brandi Carlile. In previous weeks she hasn't been that great, but this week she was really good! She has a unique voice, and has a lot of talent. I'm not sure that she'll go really far into the competition though.

Katelyn Epperly: (19 year old from Iowa)
She sang "I Feel the Earth Move Under My Feet" by Carole King. She played the keyboard while she sang but never got into it. It was kind of boring she just stood in the middle of the stage. Her vocals were not too exciting either. She has sung different kinds of songs every week, so I'm not really sure what kind of music she really sings. I think she could go home on Thursday.

Didi Benami: (23 year old from Tennessee)
She sang "Rhiannon" by Fleetwood Mac. I thought she was amazing last night! I loved the song, and her voice sounded really good! She played the guitar and had minimal other background music so it was just mostly her. She picked a good song. I haven't liked her before last night.

Paige Miles: (24 year old from Florida)
She sang "Smile" by Nat King Cole/Michael Jackson. This performance was anything but happy. It was very depressing to watch. Her voice was cracking the entire time and she looked like she was going to cry never smiling once. She explained it was because she loved Michael Jackson and so it made her emotional. Why would you pick a song that is going to make it too emotional for you to sing? I don't get it. She deserves to go home on Thursday.

Crystal Bowersox: (24 year old from Ohio)
She sang "Give Me On Reason" by Tracy Chapman. I really like Crystal and she did a really good job! It was a great song for her and she really got into it. You could tell she feeling it. I like that she plays the guitar and is very confident, being true to herself. I think it shows in her performances. She is one of my favorites and I'm sure she'll go far.
Lilly Scott: (20 year old from Colorado)
She sang "I Fall to Pieces" by Patsy Cline. I really like Lilly, but I didn't like the song she chose this week. I thought it was boring and seemed kind of old. She didn't seem like she was enjoying herself as she has in past weeks. I still think she'll go far in the competition, just needs a better song next week.

I think Katie, Katelyn, and Paige have a chance of going home on Thursday. I'm excited to see the guys tonight! I'll write my review for the guys tomorrow. I know that a lot of you probably don't watch American Idol but if you do let me know if you agree or disagree. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

American Idol Top 20

I can't believe I haven't posted about American Idol yet this season. For those of you who don't know but I'm sure you all do, I am a huge American Idol Fan! It is what gets me through the winter. Scott is not so much a fan---he says that he doesn't have a wife when A.I. is on...which is partially true.

Anyways, being an American Idol fan is a big commitment. Right now it is a 5 hour a week commitment which is a lot. If I had DVR, it would be a little less without the commercials, but we don't have DVR. I try to be productive by doing things during commercials, or sometimes things during the show. This is why I do not watch many other shows because it takes up a lot of time.

Recap of this week: We are now down to 8 girls and 8 guys. I was happy about the people that got sent home.

My favorite girl's are:
Crystal Bowersox
Lilly Scott

My favorite guys are:

Lee Dewyze

Alex Lambert (Not to be confused with Adam Lambert)

2012 - Adam Lambert

If you like Adam Lambert check this out! His song is going to be on the movie 2012 coming out. I think that's pretty cool!

American Idol Concert!

I am a big American Idol fan along with the others in my family. Last night I went to the American Idol concert! I went with my mom, her friend Janelle, and my little sis. Courtney. We took a lot of pictures! So this blog entry will have mostly pictures.
This is a picture of me and Courtney. We were so happy to be at the concert!
A picture of mom on the left and Janelle on the right

This is how the stage looked at the beginning of the concert! So exciting! Each of the top ten in American Idol took their turn performing. It started out with the people that got kicked off first, to the ones that lasted longer. Since that was the order the show got better and better with each person. I, of course, was waiting for Alison and Adam to perform because they are my favorites!
Adam and Allison performed together! They were so good! They sang Slow Ride.
Another picture of Adam and Allison
This is when Adam did his costume change, taking off his jacket. This was Janelle's favorite part :). Adam is a real performer. I know he is going to go far!
Kris was good, but I don't like him as much as Adam... He was entertaining though. I still think Adam should have won!
Everybody!

Adam hitting the high notes!
After the concert I suggested that we wait outside where the idols were supposed to come out. We got there and there were a lot of people. We decided to wait because we really wanted to meet some of the idols! We gradually made our way to the front, and an hour and fifteen minutes later, they started coming out!
We saw Danny!
We saw Matt! Courtney was so excited!
Allison!

We saw Kris, but he wasn't as friendly as we thought he'd be. Courtney asked him to take a picture with her and his little assistant said that he wasn't taking pictures. He was a disappointment in person.
We saw Adam! It was so exciting! I was so happy! More of the meeting Adam story below...

Me and Court got a picture with Allison! She was very friendly to take a picture with us!

Then we got a picture with Matt---one of Courtney's fav's! He was nice too.

Janelle asked Adam to hold her hand---and he did! She was so excited! This is the hand that Adam held (See picture). Adam was one of the nicest ones there--a lot more friendly than Kris. Adam took a lot of time and signed autographs, took pictures, etc. We didn't get a picture with him, because where we were it was very crowded.

I held my mom's purse up for Adam to sign. While he was signing her purse I touched his arm so now I can say that I too touched Adam Lambert-haha.
It was a very memorable concert and after the concert. It was a really fun night and I'm so glad we went! Meeting all of the American Idol Finalists completed the whole experience.
P.S. throughout the night our Camera's kept dying and we'd just turn them off and then back on to try to get more pictures. We were able to get all of the pictures we wanted! I told mom, Janelle, and Court that it was an American Idol miracle--haha.

American Idol Tonight!

I am very excited for American Idol tonight! I can't wait to see what Kris and Adam will sing. I know that this will be entertaining. I'll post my review after I see it. I am still pulling for Adam which if he is the best in my mind I will vote for him tonight. I always like the end of American Idol seeing the best perfomers but then it means that it won't be on again until January...then what will I watch? ha ha It will free up some time to do other things. Being an American Idol fan takes up a lot of time :) The finale in a couple of hours...

American Idol

I'm not going to go through each of the performances this week. The only thing I have to say is that my opinions of who should be in the finals next week have changed. I used to say that Adam and Danny should be the final two. After tonight I have decided that Adam and Kris should be the final two. It was the 2nd song that Kris sang that pushed me over the edge. I just didn't like Danny as much this week. Let's see what happens tomorrow!

P.S. I actually voted for the first time this season. I voted for Adam---just to make sure he is safe.

I was wrong...

My prediction for American Idol was wrong...Allison went home instead of Kris. I think he will go home next week. I knew Allison wouldn't make it to the finals so she's just going home a week earlier than I thought.

I enjoyed the Daughtry Performance and No Doubt was all right. Paula Abdul performing was very strange---I don't think people her age should dance like that!

Until next week!

A few minutes before American Idol is on...

I decided I wanted to give my thoughts on American Idol right before it started. I was very excited for Rock week but I was slightly disappointed. There were only two performances I really liked and you'll see below which ones those were...

I really liked that Slash was the mentor. I thought it was cool that he played with his band for the contestants to sing.

My thoughts of the performances:

Adam Lambert--"Whole Lotta Love": I really liked this performance. I thought that Adam did very well singing Led Zeppelin. I like how he takes risks and entertains people. His performances are never boring! I think that he is a very good rocker! This was the only individual performance that I really liked! The only thing I didn't like was his outfit.

Allison Iraheta--"Crybaby": I think that Allison is definitely a rocker, but didn't pick the best song. I'm pretty sure she'll stay so I hope she picks a better song for next week. I liked her hair this week.

Danny and Kris Duet--"Renegade": Kind of awkward to watch, didn't really like. Simon was right---Danny sang better than Kris in that one.

Kris Allen--"Come Together": I didn't like his performance all that much. It was okay, but nothing compared to Adam's. I think Kris is going home tonight... hopefully I'm right

Danny Gokey--"Dream On": I love Aerosmith and Danny did a very bad version. It kind of made me cringe a bit especially while he sang the high notes.

Adam and Allison Duet--"Slow Ride": I loved this! They are the best rockers!

Verdict: I think Kris is going home...we'll see if I predicted right.

Result show on now! I'm watching!

American Idol

I just love American Idol and I haven't written much about it. My sister Amber writes about it each week and I have been a slacker. This week the performances were a little boring being "Big Band Night." I still have the same top three though that I have had the entire time. My top three list is as follows:

1. Adam Lambert
2. Danny Gokey
3. Allison Iraheta

This week I was glad to see Matt Giraud go. He kind of drove me crazy because he thought he was "hot stuff" but he really wasn't. The song he chose wasn't very good and I just don't like him at all.

The performances during the results show were interesting. Seeing Taylor Hicks I still don't understand how he really won. I just had to endure that performance. Jamie Fox was great as a mentor but I did not like his perfomance. It seems a little weird to me that he is trying to act like Kanye West or some other R&B artist. Not the best week for entertainment.

I think Adam is going to win it all. Watching him he doesn't even really seem to have to try too hard to be amazing. He is really good. I'm excited to see him next week when the genre is "Rock 'n Roll." I think this will be my favorite week so far.

I think Kris Allen is going home this week. I don't think that he has a loud enough voice to sing rock songs. Plus the faces he pulls while singing bother me. I'm hoping that he is the next to go.

I'll give another update next week!

American Idol Time!

I am so excited for American Idol! This is the time I look forward to every year. I love picking a favorite and following them the whole way through. Last year I chose David Cook from the beginning and he won, so I'm excited to predict this year! I know Scott is excited too that it will be on our TV each week... It started tonight and there were some good people, and of course some bad people, but no predictions yet. Amber beat me with writing about American Idol...
