Wet Paint

Anyone that knows me well know that when I see a sign that says "Wet Paint" I just have to touch to see if it's really wet.  This was no exception when my parents and sister Courtney were in town last week.  We were down in the subway station, waiting for the train and we saw the sign.  Courtney and Scott pointed it out and dared me to touch it. There were other people on the platform, so we tried to be sneaky and take a picture quickly (which explains the blurriness).

P.S. It wasn't wet!

Lunch Dilemma

Every morning when I pack my lunch I have a hard time deciding what to pack.  The problem is that lunch food never sounds good.  This is why I usually end up bringing to work cereal for my breakfast and lunch.
When we have dinner leftovers I usually pack them the night before to bring for lunch.  Then in the morning I decide that it doesn't sound good so I pack some sort of breakfast food.

Monday night we had spaghetti so I packed up the leftovers and told Scott, "Now tomorrow when I said spaghetti doesn't sound good, tell me it will sound good at lunchtime."  He agreed.  The next morning I had a clothing fiasco*, so I didn't even go in the kitchen or have time to pack my lunch.  I had cereal in my desk at work so I didn't worry about it.   That afternoon Scott sent me this picture:

He wrote me a note on our whiteboard on our fridge since he wouldn't be there to remind me to take my spaghetti. I really laughed when I saw this picture! Too bad I missed the note because spaghetti really did sound good for lunch but I didn't have it with me. Then this morning the lunch dilemma started again. I looked at the spaghetti and thought oh I think I'll just pack some cereal.... and the cycle begins again!

*The clothing fiasco:  Picking out what to wear each morning takes me a really long time.  On Tuesday, I decided to wear a green dress and ironed it and everything.  I put it on and was all ready to leave the house when I remembered that I needed to put lotion on my legs.  I pushed the pump on the lotion to get some and it shot out all over my dress!  I thought there is no way that I'm going to be able to get this off of my dress without washing it completely.  So I grabbed the first thing I saw and put it on and left for work.
Side note:  I haven't given a Weight Watchers update in a while.  Here's a summary of my progress so far:

Week 1:  -1.8
Week 2:  0
Week 3:  +.20
Week 4:  +.60
Week 5:  -1.8

So overall in 5 weeks I have lost 2.8 pounds.  It's not a lot but I feel good about it because I've been having a hard time losing weight since we've gotten married.  I'm going to stick with this and get more serious to make it to my goal.  In Weight Watchers they talked about how sometimes weight fluctuates when we are trying to lose.  Sometimes is will go up a little in between the losses, the important part is that overall we are heading towards our goal.  So I am pretty happy that I have a loss overall so far.  Now I just have to work harder!

P.S. Shyla and Liz do you see your announcements on our fridge?  So excited to see you both get married very soon:)

Bed Half Made, or Bed Half Un-made... you decide

Ever since we've been married Scott has almost always made the bed. The other day I thought I would be nice and started making the bed while he was in the shower. I got distracted by something and went to do something else. Scott comes in and sees that I only made half the bed, my side of the bed. He said, "What is this?! You're only going to make your half of the bed?" I started laughing because I didn't realize that I had only made my half of the bed.

The next day I walked into our room after getting ready and see this:
Scott was giving me a taste of my own medicine:)  So here is the question would you consider our bed half made, or half unmade?

By the way... I made the whole bed yesterday morning.

10 Cops Go Into a Donut Shop....

It sounds like the beginning of a joke right?  As I was leaving for lunch I saw 10 cops walking into a little Dunkin Donuts, I started laughing because that is totally a stereotype (cops and donuts).  I wanted to take a picture but I didn't think they'd like that very much (Sorry this picture is from this website talking about a cop stealing donuts).

P.S.: When I worked at Tasty's (donut/sandwich shop in Kaysville, UT) cops would come in all the time.  You'd see a parking lot full of cop cars.  I always thought it was funny.

Rough morning... I feel like going to bed and starting over....

Yesterday at work I started feeling really sick.  I could feel a cold coming on and my stomach was killing me.  I sneezed probably 100 times at work, and I'm not even joking.  The commute was successful and I made it home.  When I got home Scott gave me some medicine, and warned me it would knock me out.  I felt like it was working and didn't feel tired until all of a sudden I was on the couch and fell asleep around 8:30.  I woke up and hurried to bed and fell right to sleep.  I continued to sleep until about 6:30 am when I woke up.

I decided to get up and get ready since that usually makes me feel better.  I got ready and headed off to work (thought about calling in sick but didn't want to waste vacation days).  I got to the subway station and saw waited for the train.  I initially got onto the C train, but the A came, so I decided to switch trains.  Right when I got on the train, I sat down and smelled something funny.  I soon realized that it smelled like something was burning, and decided to get off the next stop and get on the C when it got there.  While I waited for the C, I noticed MTA workers and a police officer trying to figure out what was causing the smell.  The C came, and as I was getting on they announced that the A train was no longer in service, so everyone from that train packed on...  It seemed like forever on the train, I ended up getting to my transfer stop 15 minutes later than usual.  I transferred to my train and was freaking out because it was looking like I was going to be late.  I get to the stop right by my office and get off having to climb the monstrous escalator while I felt I didn't have any energy.  I made it to work and clocked in at 9:34 which is "late" for work since work starts at 9:30, but they give us until 9:37 to not be considered late, which saved me.  I clocked in "on time! barely."  Now the story doesn't end here.

I start working, and doing the usual morning routine and at about 10:15 I decided to eat my breakfast that I had packed--lemon yogurt. This sounded really good to me, because it was cold, and I thought it would feel good on my throat.  I started eating it and it was really good until I noticed a clump in the yogurt I was eating.  I then looked down at my yogurt and realized there was mold in it!  I throw the container into my garbage and start spitting it out.  I start freaking out, I yelled, "yuck, I'm going to be sick!" Then I ran into the bathroom.  I started to wash out my mouth, scrubbing my tongue to get it out.  I run into the kitchen and grab half of a bagel to take a few bites to get the taste out of my mouth.  I come back to my pod and explain what happened to the 2 people who sit next to me.  They just look at me like, "and the problem is..."  No sympathy whatsoever.

So not only am I sick, tired, was almost late, now I have consumed moldy yogurt... I'm ready to call a do over...

It's not even 11:00 am yet.

"You look like you are 14!"

I am so tired of hearing this! I know I am young and look even younger! I know that it is shocking to some that I am married! Why do you have to keep pointing it out to me? This is what I wonder to myself each and every day at work.

I have a few examples to share. My first day of work one of my coworkers called me "raggedy ann" because I looked so young with my curly red hair. I have gotten called young lady, kiddo, hon, sweetie, etc. by everyone I help. I used to pass for 12-13, but now I'm able to pass for 14-15 which is good news getting up there:)

A lot of people I meet notice that I'm married and feel very negatively about it and feel the need to point it out. I've had a lady tell me, "well I hope he's the right one!" All I said in response was, "he is!"

The most recent story is a guy that came in like last week. This is how the conversation went:

Mr. ?: What are you doing here?!
Ashley:Um... working
Mr. ?: You shouldn't be working in a place like this!
Ashley:Okay...
Mr. ?: Where are you from?
Ashley: Utah, near Salt Lake
Mr. ?: Utah? You never want to go back to Utah with all those Polygamists and Mormons!!!!
Ashley: Actually, polygamy is not practiced by the mormons anymore, and by the way I am mormon.
Mr. ?: (looking at my wedding ring) You look too young to be engaged to be married!
Ashley: Actually I have been married for 1 1/2 years and I am about to turn 23.
Mr. ?: You look like you are 14! You have made a big mistake!
Ashley: Here's your pass... have a great day sir! Goodbye.

People say that I will "love it when I'm older." But until then....I hate all the comments...

Here's to my 23rd birthday in March! Then people will be even more shocked when I tell them my real age:)

Total Eclipse of the Heart: Literal Version

Scott was watching this video on youtube and we both thought it was very funny! Watch it and let us know what you think!
